Lima - 2004-09-26-LI

Ahh, finally the beach.  Well, not quite.  First pictures are of an ACE hardware store, then journeying to the beach, and finally the "beach" from a few hundred feet above.  It's still winter, after all.  Nice examples of erosion.

Lima - 2004-11-06-LI

First two pictures are of an Argentinian steakhouse, then the majority are from the "Museo de Oro" (Peruvian Museum of Gold) which is also an arms and weapons museum.  Also in the museum are several mummies, and finally a pictures of chinese "hot pot".

Lima - 2004-11-07-LI

Well heck, a real "Bullfight".  Lots of gore, not much else to comment about.  The bulls lost, by the way.

Lima - 2004-11-10-LI

Pictures of the local "Barrio Chino", or China Market. Not much comparison to the real thing, but as good as it gets I suppose, considering where we're at.  Some Korean activities too!

Lima - 2004-11-28-LI

The Beach!  A place South of Lima called "Punto Negra".  Well, it's got surf and sand so I guess it qualifies.  Not quite like Hawaii though :-(

Lima - 2004-12-05-LI

Well, just when we though Lima was nothing but DIRT, we discovered that it also has rocks coated with dirt.  Mesquite trees, cactus, rocks, dirt, but no water.  A trip to the Northeast into some of the mountains.  A couple of towns, one called Chosica.  Not much to see, except dirt.

Lima - 2004-12-25-LI

Another Christmas at the beach!  Can't complain about the weather, for December.

Lima - 2005-01-02-LI

Negotiating business deals with some locals at the Inca Market, short series.

Lima - 2005-01-08-LI

A beach close to Lima, and a lot of pictures of roadside scenery and a furniture market.  Yes, more dirt too.

Lima - 2005-01-16-LI

These are pictures of La Molina, a "burb" in Lima as well as some pictures of other "poorer" areas of this large, sprawled out city.

Lima - 2005-01-22-LI & Punta Roca Jan '05

A weekend at the beach "Punta Roca" in January of '05.  Lots of locals too...

Lima - 2005-02-06-LI

These are pictures of part of Lima where the Ministry of Justice is.  Then it's followed by pictures of the Port of Callao, Callao is a major seaport in Perú; it handles three-fourths of the nation's exports and imports. The city is also a fishing center, and it contains shipyards and a great variety of heavy and light factories.  There is a floating submarine museum located in Callao.  Finally a few pictures from a Peruvian Navy museum.

Lima - 2005-04-03-LI

Lima, what more can I say?  Some pictures around the house, a foggy area, fish market, food market...

Lima - 2005-06-29-LI

Plaza de Armas in downtown Lima, this is the center of both the city and national governments.  Also included is the San Francisco Church and the neighboring monastery, which includes the catacombs.  This monastery dates from the 16th century and has many Spanish and Moorish architectural influences.  Through the centuries it has been damaged and rebuilt numerous times due to earthquakes.  The library in the monastery of San Francisco holds thousands of antique texts, many of which date back to the time of the conquistadores.

Lima - 2006-03-05-LI
